Peru

Oh, it was such a joy to have the opportunity to go to Peru. I was prayed onto a team of 13 students and 2 leaders. Our time in Peru consisted of city ministry partnering with churches and different people as well as a whole month in the Amazon! God knew exactly what I needed in this season because I learned so much!! Stripped Away from all your comforts only left to depend on God. I was surrounded by amazing people so on fire for the Lord, with knowledge to contribute, stories to share, and lots of laughter. Many people have lots of questions and so I'll do my best to explain what words can explain Peru.
What did I learn?
I learned so much and I still have so much to learn. Looking back on the past 6 months I learned the significance of laying your life down, serving, and dying to your flesh which sounds kind of weird as a kid but until you grasp it you won't understand humility. You won't be able to understand how much we need God. that our flesh wants what this world has to offer because it's broken but if we look at Jesus, we focus our eyes on him… life is much sweeter.
Ok, I also learned how important the fruits of the spirit are. You learn them in Sunday school, it’s so simple there’s even a song about it but my question is do we grasp that or is it just something we sing or recite? being on a team of 14 other people you either learn these things quickly or you just have a really terrible no good very bad time. patience was my word for outreach. just as God is patient with us, he walks with us right where we are. We need to do that with others. I prayed a prayer over my heart and the heart of my teammates every single day that all bitterness, negativity, discouragement, jealousy, and offense would leave our hearts and that we would be filled with the Holy Spirit and filled with the fruits of the spirit. and when I tell you my team was one of the most joy-filled teams of my DTS. I believe it's because of our prayers, our willingness to serve each other, and our willingness to give patience.
That kind of goes into something else that became so real to me and it’s prayer. guys, there is power in prayer! There is power in the name of Jesus. When you're in another country where they don't speak English and you're praying for a little girl and she starts weeping under the presence of God it’s because Holy Spirit met her. Her spirit understands the prayer. I don’t know a single person on earth that could make this possible but God. When you're far back in the jungle with no cell service, no bathrooms, no ice cream it’s just you and God. Our team before going to Peru interceded every week, every day for the nation of Peru. And guys this is crazy!! There was this community far far back in the jungle and we were accepted into the tribe!! The last time our contacts tried to do it the men of the tribe had lined up in a row with their machetes not allowing them in. It was a miracle in itself that we were accepted by the community.
Wow just wow! I could go on and on about all of the amazing testimonies and stories of Peru. God is so good and he always has our backs. You might be like these are crazy stories that won't happen here in the US but I'm here to tell you you are wrong. All you have to do is ask because He comes when you ask.
God met me and my team in ways words cannot even describe. I write this post to stir faith, to start conversations, and to share how incredible my Father is because it’s nothing to keep quiet about!
